Rural Economic Development Initiative

The Rural Community Development Initiative (RCDI) awards grants to housing and community development intermediary organizations to develop the capacity and ability of nonprofit organizations, low-income rural communities, and federally recognized tribes to undertake projects related to housing, community facilities, and community and economic development in rural areas. Funds can be used for, but are not limited to, the following purposes: Train sub-grantees to conduct home ownership education and/or minority business entrepreneur education; Provide technical assistance to sub-grantees on strategic plan development, accessing alternative funding sources, board training, developing successful childcare facilities, creating training tool such as videos, workbooks and reference guides, and effective fundraising techniques. Eligible entities include Local Governments, Federally Recognized Tribes, Nonprofits, Public organizations.
