Rural Energy Pilot Program

The purpose of the Rural Energy Pilot Program is to provide financial assistance for rural communities to further develop renewable energy to help meet our nation's energy needs and combat climate change while prioritizing environmental justice, racial equity and economic opportunity. To be eligible for this program, projects must contribute to the establishment or development of clean energy communities through the deployment of community-scale distributed renewable energy technologies or systems. Rural Energy Grant funds can be used to support: Community energy planning, capacity building, and technical assistance; Community efficiency and weatherization; Installation and equipping of community-scale renewable energy technologies and systems. Eligible entities include Local Governments, State Governments, Federally Recognized Tribes, Nonprofits.
