August 8 – August 22, 2023, the Salem-Keizer Area Transportation Study (SKATS) requests public input on an amendment to the fiscal year 2021-2026 Transportation Improvement Program (TIP). Project details can be found below (click the link for additional information):

  • SAMTD Low or No Emission Bus and Charging Infrastructure Purchase (Key # 23488): Add new project. The Salem Area Mass Transit District (SAMTD) received a Low- and No-Emissions 5339c grant from the Federal Transit Administration (FTA) for the purchase of approximately five battery-electric buses and charging equipment to replace aging diesel vehicles. This project will support the district’s transition to a zero-emission fleet, enhance system safety, lower operational costs and reduce maintenance. Total project cost is $7,748,358 ($6,586,104 federal; $1,162,254 match).

The SKATS Policy Committee will review this amendment during the August 22, 2023 meeting. Meeting details are available on the SKATS website. Please provide comments to Steve Dobrinich at sdobrinich [at] mwvcog.org. The comment period will remain open until noon (PST) August 22.
